He began his Preaching Ministry in 2003 at Zion Baptist Church in Xenia, Ohio and his Pastoral Ministry in June 2009 at First Zion Baptist Church.
He has been the recipient of Certificates of Appreciations for Community Service and a recipient of Proclamation for spiritual community leadership from two separate Mayors. Dr. Bunch ecclesiastical affiliations involve: National Baptist Convention USA and Full Gospel Baptist Fellowship International. He is a member of the Xenia African American Ministerial Association and a member of the Jamestown Alliance Ministerial Association. Dr. Bunch is also a former Executive Board Member of the NAACP and member of the USDA Civil Rights Committee. He holds an earned Associate degree in Agricultural Industrial Technology, a Bachelors of Science degree in Agricultural Economics, a Masters degree in Management, and a Ph. D. in Leadership and Change.
Pastor Bunch’s philosophy is quite simple—Faith without work is dead. He believes that our faith should be seen in our Love for God and in keeping His commandments! Jesus said, “If you love me keep my commandment.” Pastor Bunch understands no one is perfect and no one is sinless; that is, “all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” Therefore, he believes that our victory in life is influenced by our decision to be obedient, to trust, and to love God.
Dr. Bunch is the Senior Pastor of First Zion Baptist Church. In June 2009, under the guidance and direction of the Holy Spirit, he led First Zion in a debt free capitol campaign to pay off its mortgage. He reactivated the church membership with The Western Association of the Ohio Baptist General Convention and Jamestown Ministerial Alliance Association, organized the church administrative operations, made significant changes to the exterior as well as the interior physical appearance of the Church, activated church positions and appointed church officers, increased church growth by 25 percent, and increased the church financial position by 33 percent. In addition, Dr. Bunch introduced and implemented 8 new ministries to feed and assist families within the Jamestown community.
Dr. Bunch also serves as Central State University's Associate Director of Extension for their new Land Grant Program. He has designed, organized, and provided statewide leadership in the development of CSU new Extension Service and the implementation of several community based programs for the citizens of Ohio. In addition, he has also spent over 25 years as a federal employee serving in leadership positions such as State Outreach Coordinator, Resource Conservation & Development Coordinator, State Conservation Innovation Grant Coordinator, State Cultural Resource Coordinator, State Wetland Reserve Program Monitor Coordinator, and District Conservationist.
Dr. Bunch has been passionate about the vision God gave him for the physical and spiritual restoration at First Zion Baptist Church. As pastor, his mission has been to present the gospel to the lost and win souls for Christ, minister to the broken hearted, feed and clothe the poor, disciple members, and nourish a community where Christ love is experienced. He believes that all Pastors are called to follow in the teaching of Christ by being servants for the Kingdom of God. He says…when Jesus taught and practiced the concept of servant leadership more than two thousand years ago, he taught his disciples the principle of servant leadership: Jesus said, ‘You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant’ (NIV Bible, Mark 10:43). Jesus taught that a leader’s greatness is measured by a total commitment to serve fellow human beings. Thus, he believes in the concept of servant leadership—a leader must be willing to serve others first above that of their own.
Furthermore, Dr. Bunch was born and raised in Tallulah, La. He has been married to his beautiful wife LaStander (Tina) for over 25 years. Together they have three beautiful daughters Tatiana (20), Ayanna (16), and Gianna (8).
